About
Groundwork Studio is a land analysis practice for horse properties, run by Veera Vuorio: equestrian first, spatial designer and developer second.
In the track system community, the advice is always the same: live on the land for a year or two before you build anything. Watch where the water collects and where the ground turns to mud. It’s good advice, but it only helps once you own the land, when the biggest decisions are already made.
I was searching for my own property and wanted that answer before a visit was possible. As a technical artist, I build terrain, lighting and environment systems that model how slope, water and sun behave across large landscapes. Groundwork applies the same methods to a single property: terrain, soil, flood and climate records, hand-selected for what matters most on your land.
What you get back is a clearer picture: where mapped soils and terrain suggest winter wetness, how modelled shade reaches across each field in December, and which areas warrant a closer look when planning year-round turnout.
Nothing replaces a year on the land, but this narrows the gap. The designer is free to use with your own aerial image if you’d rather start drawing your tracks today.
Scope and price are set in writing before work begins. On-site photography and contractor research are carried out by specialists I commission. The analysis and planning are mine.
